Rachel Miller is the Foundation Course, Choir and Folk Group tutor. She studied at Oxford University and then as a post graduate at Dartington College of Arts, Devon and at Bristol University where she trained as a Music Therapist. She studied flute with Ingrid Culliford, Trinity College of Music and has taught flute since 1986 in private practice and in institutions including Dartington College of Arts, SaMM Totnes, Ivybridge Community College and several other schools. She has worked professionally as a flautist in several different genres including classical, jazz, folk and experimental music. She is a composer and writes soundtracks for theatre.
She is also a professional storyteller and has toured extensively with PuppetCraft - one of UK’s leading Puppet Theatre companies. She has worked with children for many years leading workshops and teaching foundation music skills in a creative and fun way. She also brings her knowledge and experience of working with areas of Special Educational Needs.
Rachel teaches flute, piano, saxophone, recorder, tin whistle and music theory. She taught at SaMM for many years when it first started and is delighted to return now as tutor of these groups.
